On 22 September 2026, a training seminar and consultation meeting was held in Dushanbe as part of the implementation of the State Programme for Strengthening the Protection of State Secrets and the Technical Protection of Information for 2022–2026.
The event focused on the topic “Preventing the Disclosure of State Secrets in the Press When Publishing Materials and Challenges in the Delivery of Mandatory Free Copies of Documents.” Participants included chief editors of state-owned newspapers and magazines, as well as officials responsible for the official websites of government bodies.
Mavjuda Anvari, Editor-in-Chief of the state newspaper Ganj, also attended the seminar and exchanged views on issues concerning the role of the media in information protection.
During the seminar, it was emphasized that, amid the rapid development of information technologies and the growing opportunities for disseminating information through the media and websites, the protection of state secrets is becoming increasingly important. Therefore, media professionals and officials responsible for government websites must exercise due diligence regarding the content of information when preparing and publishing materials.
One of the main objectives of the seminar was to improve the knowledge and legal awareness of chief editors, media professionals, and officials responsible for the official websites of government bodies in the field of state secret protection and the prevention of the dissemination of confidential information.
Participants were also familiarized with the requirements of the legislation of the Republic of Tajikistan concerning the protection of state secrets, procedures for handling information of state significance, and the liability of relevant officials for failure to comply with established requirements.
The issue of delivering mandatory free copies of documents was also discussed. Participants exchanged views on existing challenges and possible ways to improve cooperation between the relevant government bodies, publishing institutions, and media organizations.
It was noted that compliance with legal requirements concerning the protection of state secrets is not solely the responsibility of authorized government bodies. It is also the duty of every employee involved in preparing, processing, storing, and disseminating information.
At the conclusion of the seminar, participants asked questions about the issues discussed and shared their views and proposals aimed at further improving information-related activities and preventing the disclosure of information classified as state secrets.
Such training events provide an important foundation for enhancing legal awareness, strengthening the professional responsibility of media employees, and ensuring compliance with legislation on the protection of information of state significance.
