From Oymuhammadzoda Ilhomjon Sulton, Head of the Main Directorate of Geology under the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan, on the occasion of the State Language Day of the Republic of Tajikistan
Dear Colleagues,
I sincerely congratulate you all on the occasion of the State Language Day of the Republic of Tajikistan!
Language is a great spiritual treasure, a source of national self-awareness, and one of the fundamental pillars of statehood. Through language, a nation preserves its history, culture, spiritual values, and life experience, passing them on to future generations. With its rich history and outstanding literary and scientific heritage, the Tajik language plays a prominent role in shaping our culture and national identity.
The Founder of Peace and National Unity — the esteemed Leader of the Nation and President of the Republic of Tajikistan, Emomali Rahmon, emphasized in one of his speeches: “The melodious and eloquent Tajik language is the most important element in the existence and continued life of our ancient nation.” This profound statement calls upon us to treat the state language with responsibility as a sacred national value.
During the period of state independence, thanks to the consistent policies of the state and the special attention of the Leader of the Nation, the status of Tajik as the state language has been strengthened, and legal, scientific, and cultural foundations have been established for its development across various spheres of public life. Today, the Tajik language is widely used in public administration, science, education, culture, the economy, and other areas of the country's development. In the context of globalization and the rapid advancement of information technologies, expanding the capabilities of the state language in digital and scientific environments is becoming increasingly important.
The geological sector also plays an important role and bears a particular responsibility for developing the state language and expanding the use of Tajik as a language of science.
Geology is a scientific, technical, and industrial field with an extensive range of specialized terminology. Therefore, scientific reports, geological information, technical documents, maps, and other sector-specific materials must be prepared in clear, precise language that complies with established linguistic standards. The accurate use of terminology contributes not only to the quality of documentation but also to the development of the Tajik scientific language.
Every employee of the Main Directorate of Geology can contribute to this effort by observing the standards of the state language, choosing words carefully, using specialized terminology accurately, and improving professional communication skills. A responsible attitude towards language should begin with every official document, report, letter, and professional interaction.
The Main Directorate of Geology has a Commission for the Implementation of the State Language, which carries out activities aimed at ensuring compliance with language standards, improving linguistic culture, and promoting the proper use of Tajik in official duties.
Our responsibility as speakers of the language is to preserve our linguistic heritage while continuing to develop Tajik in accordance with the demands of modern science and technology, creating new terminology, and strengthening its position in scientific, technological, and digital environments.
Educating the younger generation is also of particular importance in this process. Alongside acquiring modern knowledge and learning foreign languages, young people should have a strong command of their mother tongue, use it correctly, and contribute to enriching Tajik scientific and professional language.
Language connects a nation's past, present, and future. Therefore, every generation is responsible for preserving this invaluable heritage and passing it on to future generations, enriched with new opportunities and knowledge.
Taking this joyful opportunity, I once again extend my heartfelt congratulations to all of you on the occasion of the State Language Day of the Republic of Tajikistan.
I wish you all good health, prosperity, productive work, and continued success in advancing the geological sector, science and education, and strengthening the position of the state language.
Happy State Language Day of the Republic of Tajikistan!
