General information
To reform the system of centralized entrance examinations (CEE) for higher professional education institutions (HPEIs) in the Republic of Tajikistan, the State Institution “National Testing Center” was established by Government of the Republic of Tajikistan Resolution No. 114 of March 5, 2008. Under its charter, the Center’s activities are focused on organizing and administering the CEE for HPEIs.
In connection with the introduction of the CEE for HPEIs, an agreement for the grant project “Russian Education Aid for Development (READ) Partnership Program, Phase 2” was signed between the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan and the World Bank on July 28, 2011. The Center implemented the project until October 31, 2014.
The project aimed to strengthen the Center’s human resource capacity and organize its operations to implement the CEE system for HPEIs. The project included measures to strengthen the Center’s institutional processes, develop its human resource capacity, and provide it with equipment.
In view of the important role and significance of these examinations in science and education, the institution was restructured and its administrative subordination changed. By Decree No. 138 of the President of the Republic of Tajikistan, Emomali Rahmon, dated February 10, 2014, the National Testing Center under the President of the Republic of Tajikistan (NTC under the President of the RT) was established on its basis.
Since 2015, institutions of secondary vocational education (colleges) have also been included in the CEE system, alongside higher professional education institutions (universities and institutes). Student admission to these institutions is conducted through this system.
In addition, under its charter, the Center is responsible for organizing the monitoring and assessment of education quality and participating in international programs that assess students’ knowledge. Each year, the Center carries out a number of activities in this area, helping create favorable conditions for fulfilling its charter objectives and responsibilities.
